Srinagar, Nov 27: PDD is also notorious in many issues of corrupton by this way or the other, as one innocent reported Cross Town News that one JE of PDD harassed him for providing electricity despite 5 KW load was stands sanctioned.
Thereafter, JE asked the applicant to install his own transformer, then he will provide electricity. However, the consumer purchased a transformer, therafter JE asked to pay Rs. 90, 000 by saying that earthing of transformer has to be done by him & the applicant paid the said amount for earthing.
But despite taking, Rs 90,000 for earthing charges, only JE laid three pipes/chemicals uderground but he did not made any joint till date with transformer despite so many requests, otherwise it was a wastefull expences the JE made applicant to do.
Now, it shall be a matter of enquiry, whether for 5KW load transformer was to be installed by the department or by the consumer or it was a reason of vested considerations on the part of Junior Engineer..?
Now, recently, some electric poles made of cement, procurred by PDD, had been installed in various areas of Jammu & Kashmir but reportedly some have collapsed in Srinagar after developing cracks exposing how substandard procurement has been done by the PDD.
Scores of collapsed electric poles were seen in areas like Raj Bagh, Nishat and Hyder pora where no tree was present even in the vicinity of the transmission lines that could have led to the collapse of the network during the recent snowfall.
The procurement of substandard electric poles has exposed how Govt had been resorting to corruption to install infrastructure of such importance.
