JAMMU, NOVEMBER: Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo today directed for making available adequate stock of vaccines, masks and other logistics at all the health care institutions in Jammu and Kashmir to tackle H1N1 Influenza.


The FC made these remarks while chairing a meeting to review the state of preparedness to tackle any eventuality arising out of H1N1 Influenza.

About the state of preparedness, the FC was informed that Rapid Response Teams have been constituted at state surveillance units in all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir to tackle any kind of emergency.

He directed the officers that adequate preventive measures should be adopted and supply of essential vaccines, masks and other logistics should be kept available at the health care institutions.

He also said that public advisory should be issued at an appropriate time, if needed, through print and electronic media.

It was informed in the meeting that stocks and logistics including personal Protection Kits, N95 masks, triple layer masks are available to tackle emergency outbreak.

The FC was informed in the meeting that designated isolation facilities have been made available in the hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir to handle H1N1 cases. He was also informed that no deaths have been reported arising out of H1N1 so far and the screening and sample collection of the suspected patients after collection are transported in cold chain to the control room.

The meeting was attended by Director Health Services, Jammu, Renu Khajuria, Principal Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina, , Dr Mission Director ICDS, Ms Shabnum Kamili; MD J&KMSCL, Shiv Kumar, Joint Director (Planning) H&ME, Madan Lal and other officers.

Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Samir Mattoo, Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar Prof Parvez Ahmad Shah, Chief Medical Officers and other concerned participated in the meeting via video-conferencing.
