Scholarship  for 108  JKPolice wards:?Quality education of police wards our priority: DGP

SRINAGAR, JUNE 05: In order to boost their morale and infuse a spirit of competition among the children of police personnel, JKP provides meritorious scholarships in different categories, besides assistance to the wards of deceased personnel.         

This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP) Mr. K Rajendra Kumar while sanctioning scholarship of Rs.5.16 lakhs for 108 wards of police personnel at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. He said that the innovative schemes introduced by the Organisation for promoting education of police children have yielded good results and the students are excelling in different academic and competitive examinations, besides sports arena.         

Mr. Rajendra said that scholarships are granted out of Central Police Welfare Fund for the meritorious wards studying in class 10th and 12th. Accordingly special rewards are granted to the children qualifying State and National level competitive examination, and securing distinction in degree courses. He disclosed that the wards exhibiting talent at National level in sports are also encouraged with the aim to instil moral values and sense of sportsmanship among them.         

DGP said that a contributory Central Police Education Fund has also been established to provide succour to the school going children of deceased cops. Under this scheme the wards are granted scholarship for every academic year from primary level up to post graduation and other technical courses. He said that Police Public Schools are also provided free education to the wards of police martyrs, who are excelling in different examination, bringing laurels to the Organisation.
