CS urges effective utilization of Rs 120 cr funds allocated under Tribal Sub Plan-2016-17


 

SRINAGAR, JUNE 3: In view of the major hike in fund allocation to Jammu and Kashmir under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP)-2016-17, Chief Secretary B R Sharma Fridayasked administrative Secretaries to expedite formulation and submission of the Perspective Plans for the purpose.          

Chief Secretary was speaking in a meeting he chaired here in which Union Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Dr Sham Aggarwal was also present.          

“I urge all concerned to take full advantage of the five fold hike in TSP funds announced by the Union Government and with due diligence formulate the Annual Plan Proposal complete in all respects for onward submission to the PAC which is expected to meet in the month of July, 2016” Chief Secretary said.  

Chief Secretary said DPRs should be planned in a way to effectively translate the financial resources into tangible outcomes for the benefit of the Tribal population of Jammu and Kashmir.

 Secretary Health, Mandeep K Bhandari, Secretary, Tribal Affairs, Saurabh Bhagat, Secretary, Technical Education, Hilal Ahmad Parray, Project Director,RMSA/SSA, Saugat Biswas, Director School Education, Kashmir, Dr Shah Faesal and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.           

The Government of India recently announced a major hike in the fund allocation to Jammu and Kashmir under TSP. The State would now get an allocation of Rs 120 crore to be primarily utilized to address gaps in the physical infrastructure in the education and health institutions in Tribal dominated areas besides focusing on providing better hostel facilities to Tribal students and enhancing skill sets of Tribal Youth.
