 GANDERBAL, Aug 23: District Ganderbal lifted the State level Under-17 Inter District Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, organized by Youth Services and Sports Department. The final match was played in Qamaria Stadium here.
Ganderbal defeated Kupwara by 60 runs in the final match of the Tourney. Batting first Ganderbal scored 75 runs in allotted ten over’s. Chasing the target, the District Student Team of Kupwara was bundled out for only 15 runs.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon was chief guest on the occasion.Director General Youth Services and Sports, Mr. Jahangir Mir, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Mr. Showket Aijaz and Principal College of Physical Education, Dr. Hartej Singh was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the valedictory function, Dr. Asgar Samoon said that the youth of Kashmir have immense talent, which need to be nourished and channelized in a positive direction. He said that the Youth Services and Sports department must ensure the involvement of more youth in sports activities by providing them platform to show case their talent in a better way. He asked the youth to get involved in various sports activities along with their educational activities.
On the occasion, Director General of Youth Services & Sports said that sports play an important role in developing and shaping the future of the youth. He said that Youth Services and Sports department is meant for the welfare of youth and to provide them a platform where they can exploit their inner talent more confidently.
Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal assured that the administration will provide all help and develop sports infrastructure so that more youth will come towards sports activities.

Later, the Div Com distributed prizes and trophies among the winner and runner-up teams and participants. Special mementos of appreciation were also distributed among those stakeholders who made the mega tournament a great success.
