Mir Condemned Pakistan for unprovoked firing

Jammu, Aug 21: President JKPCC Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir accompanied by Senior Congress Leaders  S/Shri Sham Lal Sharma, Madan Lal Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Ch. Mohd. Akram, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Jahangir Mir, Ch. Bashir Naaz, Mutaza Khan  and others visited Morah Basooni (Balakote) in District Rajouri where six persons were killed and several others were injured by shelling across the border by Pakistan Army on August 15.

PCC Chief accompanied by  Senior Vice President PCC Shri Sham Lal Sharma, Former MP Shri Madan Lal Sharma, Chief Spokesman PCC Mr.Ravinder Sharma, MLA Surankote Ch. Mohd. Akram, besides MLC Mr. Jahangir Mir, PCC General Secretary Shabir Ahmed Khan, Dist. President Rajouri Sainj Abdul Rashid, Dist. President  Poonch Sdr. Rajinder Singh Kaka,, Members PCC Executive Ch. Bashir Naaz & Murtaza Khan, Secretary PCC Praveen Sarwar Khan and other senior congress leaders straight way  went to  affected area of Balakot and met the victims family members and other prominent people including Sarpanchs, Panchs, Lamberdar and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to victims families. Mr. Mir also conveyed heartfelt condolences and deep sympathy on behalf of Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Shri Rahul Gandhi, as the later (Rahul Gandhi) is scheduled to visit the area to meet the affected families. They also enquired  about the condition of injured.

Mr. Mir strongly condemned Pakistan for unprovoked firing across the border and expressed deep shock and anguish over the loss of lives. He regretted that on  Independence Day of the Country, Pakistan  resorted to shelling causing casualties and injuries to innocent people. He said that for the last one year the escalation of border firing  has caused casualties and injuries  to security personnel as well as civil population.Later  PCC Chief held interaction with local Congress leaders and the prominent people at Bhimber Gali (BG) and discussed overall situation in the area. They also discussed the scheduled visit of Shri Rahul Gandhi on August 26.

Earlier enroute from Jammu to Balakote, the PCC President and senior leaders were welcomed by prominent Congress leaders and workers at Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri and Manjakote.Other prominent leaders who accompanied PCC Chief were Ch. Masood, Sushil Sharma,, Lalit Mahajan,, Rajinder Singh, Molvi Gulzar, Shakeel Mir, Ashiq Hussain, Shakeel Choudhary, Lovely Gupta, Zulifqar Ali, Haji Khursheed Mir, Ashok Ghai, Lamberdar Faiz Mohd, Subash Sharma and Ch. Rashid Kataria.
