Jammu, May 10: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that identification of land for Sainik colony for state subjects was initiated when Omar Abdullah was chief minister.
“The issue of Sainik Colony cropped up when Omar Abdullah was chief minister. A meeting was held then, after demands from state subject Sainiks, and he had directed officials to identify land for Sainik Colony,” Mehbooba said during her address to people after inaugurating Gulshan Book shop and Coffee shop at Nehru Park in Dalgate here.
“From that time till now, no decision was taken on it,” she said.
Mehbooba said no land has been allotted for the Sainik colony though a meeting was held by the Governor N N Vohra about it.
