Jammu, May 6: Pertinent to mention here that last week media fraternity in Leh had accused the Bharatiya Janata Party, including its J&K president Ravinder Raina of trying to bribe local journalists in a bid to influence the outcome of the elections.

In their complaint to the Station House Officer, Leh, the journalists affiliated with the Press Club Leh have accused some state BJP leaders of offering us money in envelops at a press conference held at a local hotel on May 2.

Reports added that after the press conference was over, BJP leaders including state president Ravinder Raina and MLC Vikram Randhawa tried to bribe the media persons by offering us money in envelops in an attempt to use our platform to influence the outcome of elections and Media persons didn't accept the offer and rejected it out rightly and we showed our anguish at their attempt.

Following the incident the state BJP president Ravinder Raina had dismissed the allegation and he had accused the journalists in Leh of indulging in fake propaganda. He had asked them to tender an unconditional apology within 48-hours or face defamation case.

Sources said that Police have taken the cognizance of the complaint lodged by the journalists in Leh and have already lodged a FIR as the CCTV footage of the press conference has put the BJP leaders in the tightspot.

As per sources  Congress party has also taken a strong note of the incident and has decided to approach the court and file a suit against the BJP state president Ravinder Raina and MLC Vikram Randhawa.
