Priya Sethi inaugurates heritage photo exhibition


 

JAMMU, MAY 05 - Minister of State for Tourism, Education, Technical Education, Culture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks Priya Sethi today inaugurated photo exhibition of heritage structures at Kala Kendra, here.

The 3-days long exhibition focuses on heritage buildings and complexes of the city and the photographs has been exclusively captured by Simranjeet Singh Sunny Dua.

The photographic exhibition has been organised with the collaboration of Jammu Municipal Corporation, HDFC Bank and Kala Kendra Jammu.

Appreciating hard work of the Lensman, the Minister said that the exhibition has done a commendable job of focusing on the heritage of the city and takes ahead the task undertaking by the Government to preserve the rich inheritance of the city of temples.

She said that the Government has already initiated the process to preserve the heritage and development of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex is a step in the direction to conserve and showcase the rich heritage of the city.

“We want to develop Jammu as an independent tourist destination and heritage tourism can surely attract tourists to our historic city,” she added.

JMC Commissioner Mandeep Kour, Convener, INTACH Jammu Chapter S.M. Sahni, Art connoisseurs, members of media fraternity, senior citizens, students of different schools and large number of people attended the inauguration ceremony.

Taking keen interest in each photograph, Priya said that the painstaking efforts by Simrandeep Singh needs recognition and the exhibition should be organised in other parts of the country also, adding that by way of exhibition people would come to know about the heritage of the region.
