Reddy stresses for more CD training prog to reduce human loss, property

KUD, MAY 02 - Civil Defence Organization Udhampur organized a one day Civil Defence and Disaster Management awareness cum demonstration programme at Government Higher Secondary School Kud, here today.

Director General of Police, Commandant General, Civil Defence, Home Gourds & SDRF, Dr. S. Gopal Reddy was the chief guest on the occasion.

While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Reddy lauded the role of Civil Defence organization, Udhampur for holding such camp in the premises of the schools for the benefit of students and hoped that the effort would go a long way in protecting the precious lives and property during break out of fire and other exigencies effectively. He said that aim of organizing such programme is to acquaint the public in general and youths in particulars about the Civil Defence activities and disaster management in order to minimize the loss of human lives and property during the disaster if any.

Emphasizing the basic knowledge of preventive measures to tackle disasters can substantially reduce loss to life and property, Dr. Reddy opined compulsory training to massing in Civil Defence and disaster management. For the purpose he stressed to hold 5-day training programmes and mock exercises in near future in the district and involve maximum youth living in rural areas to the civil defence activities.
          

Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, Udhampur, Mr. Bodh Raj, spoke on the occasion and highlighted the role of Civil Defence Organization in educating the general masses about diverse issues of pubic interests, disaster management and first aid. Besides mobilizing the citizens and in helping civil administration in a big way in the event of natural or manmade disaster, he added.

Detailed lectures on the different measures to be adopted for safeguarding life and property in the event of manmade or natural disaster. Moreover live demonstrations of different rescue operations and use of equipment in the disaster management were also organized by the trained instructor of the Civil Defence,Udhampur.
          

Deputy Chief Warden, Civil Defence, Advocate Swatantar Dev Kotwal conducted the proceeding of the programme on the occasion.

Deputy Controller, Civil Defense, Udhampur, Mr. Bodh Raj, Principal Higher Secondary School Kud, Mr. Vijay Kumar Abrol, Wardens, Sarpanches, Panches, staff and students of surrounding schools attended the programme.
