Govt to develop nurseries on scientific lines: Lal Singh; Kralsangri forest nursery houses 4 lakh saplings

SRINAGAR, APRIL 29:  Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh on Friday said that plant production centres (nurseries) should be developed on scientific lines to make them self-reliant.

While touring the Quality Plant Production Centre Kralsangri in summer capital Srinagar, Singh said that the centres should be developed on scientific line and a mechanism should be formed to attract more locals for buying the produce.

The minister was informed that Kralsangri Plantation centre houses 4 lakh saplings of various varieties including Deodar, Kail, Fir, among other of varieties medicinal plants.

The minister interacted with the local staff and directed them to work tirelessly for the beautification and maintenance of the plantation centre in Srinagar. He also inspected the facilities being provided by the Urban Forestry Division of Forest department.

Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir (CCFK) Nissar Ahmad Darzi, DFO Urban among other officials of Forest Protection Force, Ecotourism and Wild Life Department and other senior staff of forest and its allied departments accompanied the Minister.

On the occasion the Minster said that the digitisation of Forest land should be done on priority basis. He directed for regular patrolling of Forests by FPF guards in evening hours.

The Minster said scientific nurseries would enable Forest department to fulfill the need of the people and environment parks. He termed the parks as the lungs of the city. He said that the Forest department should gear up for beautifying and landscaping the areas under their jurisdiction.
