Haq reviews progress of RDD schemes in Jammu, Kathua & Samba ; 1576 houses completed under IAY


JAMMU, APRIL 28: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Mr. Abdul Haq Khan today convened a meeting to review the progress of   various rural development schemes in district Jammu, Kathua and Samba.

Director RDD Jammu, ACDs, DPOs, BDO’s, Superintendent Engineer RDD, Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers,  Junior Engineers, Technical Assistants, GRS, Panchayat Secretaries and other officers of Rural Development were present in the meeting.

The Minister was informed that about 1576 houses have been completed under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) in these districts.

While reviewing the physical and financial achievements registered by the department  in district Kathua, the minister was informed that total 426 houses have been completed at an expenditure of   Rs. 424.16 lacs  under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY). Under MGNERGA, it was given out that an amount of Rs. 2440.92 lacs has been expended against available funds to the tune of  Rs. 2451.14 lacs registering an achievement of  99.50 % and 217 works have been executed under convergence plan . Total Rs 10.59 lacs persons days were generated against the target of Rs 7.59 lacs in the district.

Similarly, it was stated that  an amount of Rs. 784 lacs has been expended against available amount of Rs 821 lacs under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) and 1006 house have been completed in Jammu  .The Minister was further informed that under MGNERGA ,    an amount of Rs 6747.83  lacs has been expended against available funds of Rs. 6783.25  lacs while under convergence scheme, 120 works have been executed with an expenditure of Rs 48 crore and  Total Rs 18.00 lacs persons days have been generated against the target of  Rs 19.00  lacs person days .

The minister was also apprised that in Samba  Rs. 63 lacs  have been spent under IAY for  completing 144 houses. Likewise, Rs. 4.33 lac person days have been generated against a target of Rs 5.24 lacs and 58 works have been undertaken under Convergence scheme.

Expressing satisfaction over the works undertaken by the department in these districts the Minister directed the concerned officers to focus on developing durable assets under convergence mode and stressed that the scheme should be implemented in letter and spirit. He directed for effective implementation of schemes such as Swachh Bharat Mission, IAY, IHHL, IWMP, MGNREGA and other schemes and directed the BDO’s to ensure their blocks are made polythene free.

Reiterating the commitment of the coalition to provide transparent and accountable governance to the people the Minister said that an effective monitoring mechanism will be put in place to achieve tangible results on ground.
