Necessary mechanism initiated to  foster  industrial growth : Dy CM

JAMMU, APRIL 26- The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the government has initiated the necessary mechanism to foster industrial growth in the State with a thrust on the ease of doing business so that more and more people set up their entrepreneur units resulting in boosting the economic activities and generating more jobs.

The Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with a delegation of CII, J&K Chapter which called on him here today. The delegation led by  Rumjhum Chatterjee, Chairperson, CII Northern Region to discuss various initiatives to improve the ranking of J&K state on the ease of doing business index comprised of  Sheikh Imran, Chairman, CII J&K State Council, Rahul Sahai, Vice Chairman, CII J&K State Council,  Chander Prakash Gupta, CMD,   ,  Sanjay Puri,  Vicky Mahajan, & Anil Mahajan,

Dr. Singh said that the focus of the government is to accelerate the development of the industrial sector in the State and in this regard necessary steps with regard to providing the requisite logistic an infrastructural support to the already existing industries and the aspiring entrepreneurs will be taken.

The Deputy Chief Minister while spelling out the initiatives undertaken by the government in the power sector said that 24x7 power supply is being provided to the industrial estates and other small scale industries in the state. He said that necessary directions have also been passed to the concerned to ensure that all power related issues of the industrial sector are redressed within the shortest span of time.

Dr. Singh further asked the delegation to come up with their suggestions for improving and accelerating the industrial sector in the state so that necessary measures are undertaken for catalyzing the entrepreneurial activities..   

The Deputy Chief Minister later took a review of the functioning of PHE sector in  Billawar , which was attended by Commissioner Secretary Irrigation and PHE, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, Chief Engineer PHE and other senior officers of the department.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure time bound completion of all PHE schemes to augment water supply. He said that it forms one of the core sectors   and necessary mechanism should be put in place so that people do not face any inconvenience especially in summers.

Dr. Singh further directed for maintaining close coordination among different wings of the department and also regular   monitoring so that the bottle necks, if any are removed and people get the requisite and necessary supply of potable water.

The meeting was informed that Bathri, Doongri-Simbli, Thapli, Puran, Gojro-Nagrota, Najore water supply schemes have been completed and the work is apace on the rest of the schemes which would be completed very soon. It was also decided in the meeting that an Overhead Water Tank (OHT) would be constructed at Dharamkote for storage of potable water to be supplied to the villages in its catchment areas.
