UDHAMPUR, APRIL 21 - District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary launched a Mobile Awareness Van names Gram Uday Express under “Gram Uday se Bharat Uday” which will move across various panchayats in District Udhampur
The Gram Uday Express will cover more than 50 panchayats on Udhampur-Chenani, Udhampur-Ramnagar-Majalta, Tikri and sub-urban areas where Gram Sabhas will witness creative announcement on village development planning and dovetailing of resources under Centrally Sponsored Schemes. Two Master Trainers have also been deployed for counseling PRI representatives and common masses on various avenues of village development.
Project Officer, DRDA, Dr Jagdish Mehra designed the Gram Uday Express which has pictorial exhibits on various aspects of Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan, pamphlets for distribution, public address system for announcements and musical compositions designed for the Abhyan.
Asstt Commissioner Development, Joginder Singh Rai, PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra, officers of Rural Development Department, Master Trainers and team members of Gram Uday Express were present on the occasion.
District Administration has launched a series of activites under the Abhywan and has stressed for participatory planning and economic development through collective efforts of Village Communities, Panchayati Raj Institutions, field officials of various departments and subject matter specialist. A comprehensive exercise of formulation of Panchayat Master Plan for all 204 panchayats has also been set in motion as part of Abhyan.
DDC Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary informed that Gram Uday se Bharat Uday Abhyan will be guiding spirit for the entire year and not limited to 10 days which is being utilized as a window for mass awakening and mass participation. He added that year long actibities have been planned under the Abhiyan in all sectors which will really strenghtnen the village economic development and upliftment of masses. He cited example of Project Rahat as an example of Gram Uday where under 114 bridges are under construction through village communities under convergence of resources, manpower and funds at village level.
Gram Sabhas are being organized every day under supervision of senior district officers as nodal officers. The Gram Uday Express will continue to move beyond 24th April on culmination of the Abhyan.
