Checking squads inspect business establishments, book defaulters in Jammu


          JAMMU, Apr 10:  The Special checking squads of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD), inspected various establishments in and around Jammu especially in view of ongoing navratras today.

          Assistant Director Jammu Rural 1 &2  along with area inspectors, inspected several business establishments at Nagrota, Dansal, National Highway towards Udhampur and checked shops,  hotels, resorts and petrol pumps and imposed a fine of Rs 14,600 on defaulters for violation of provisions of the prescribed Acts.

          Besides, Assistant Director Jammu City Circle 1 & 2 along with area inspectors, inspected shops at, Bahu fort, Narwal, Railway road, Bikram chowk area and booked 21 defaulters and recovered a fine of Rs 10,100 on the spot for violation of various provisions of Essential Commodities Act, viz non-display of rate lists, over-charging, use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes etc.

          The commercial establishments were warned not to violate the provisions contained under EC Act and adhere to the norms and rates notified from time to time.
