Chief Secretary reviews progress of Biometric Attendance in J&K Government offices


 

JAMMU, MARCH 18: Chief Secretary, B R Sharma Friday in a meeting with administrative Secretaries reviewed the progress with respect to installation and use of Biometric Attendance System (BAS) in all Government offices to ensure punctuality, accountability and transparency in their daily functioning.

Chief Secretary was informed that all departments in the Civil Secretariat have started the BAS implementation exercise and all employees shall soon be marking their attendance on the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS).

Chief Secretary stressed on expeditious completion of the entire process and asked administrative Secretaries to submit implementation status report by 24th March for onward submission to the Governor. He said concerned administrative Secretaries shall also ensure installation of BAS in their respective subordinate Government offices within the set deadline. 

The Governor in the 1st SAC meeting held on February 7th had stressed the need to ensure punctuality and discipline in attending offices by governmental functionaries, irrespective of their levels, and proper functioning of all institutions, including schools, colleges, hospitals, ration shops etc. He had directed that high priority must be given to ensuring that offices and institutions which are concerned with the delivery of public services run honestly and efficiently.  The SAC had decided that all the government offices shall have Aadhaar based Biometric Attendance System in position by 31st March, 2016. 

SAC had also decided that the heads of offices shall ensure maintenance of proper cleanliness and sanitation within and around all government institutions and offices.

The Governor had directed that technology should be fully leveraged to extend all possible benefits to the people in general and that the Aadhaar enrolment programme shall be completed in all respects by 31st March, 2016.
