Secy. CA&PD discusses modalities to provide additional 2kg foodgrains to consumers in J&K

JAMMU, Mar 17: Secretary Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD), Mr. Sourabh Bhagat today convened a meeting to discuss modalities for operationalization of recent SAC decision of providing 2kg additional ration to consumers from April 01, 2016.

Detailed deliberations were held to streamline the food grains distribution chain besides putting in place an effective monitoring mechanism at district level, tehsil level and take off points to facilitate timely disbursement of essentials to beneficiaries.

It was informed in the meeting that high level Provincial Committees headed by Director CA&PD Jammu and Kashmir have been constituted to work out extra requirement of food grains and take up the matter with FCI for timely procurement of additional requirement at Open Market Sale System (OMSS).

The Secretary asked the concerned heads of the committee to ensure advance lifting of foodgrains for the procurement on or before 25th of the preceding month and further distribute the ration before 5th of each month among consumers. He also asked the concerned officers to maintain a dedicated distribution chain besides ensuring transparency in disbursement network.

Other issues deliberated upon includes quality grinding of atta, improvement  of daily off take report, revised budget details for the year 2016-17, Tehsil wise stock position besides issues regarding Kashmir migrants.

Director CA&PD Jammu, Director CA&PD Kashmir, General Manager FCI besides senior officers of the department and representatives of FCI attended the meeting.
