CHANDIGARH, Mar 15: An avalanche warning was issued today for the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours, advising people not to venture out in vulnerable areas of the two states.
The Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE), part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) here, said "medium danger" avalanche warning exists for avalanche-prone areas above 3,000 metres in Kupwara district of J&K.
"People are advised not to venture in avalanche prone areas during next 24 hours," it said.
It further stated light precipitation is expected in several areas of Himachal Pradesh and J&K during the next 24 hours.(Agencies)
