JAMMU, March 4: Chief Secretary Mr. B R. Sharma has called upon the divisional administrations of Kashmir and Jammu to speed up verification of accounts of flood affected families and traders and ensure that process is completed within a week so that relief to the affected is disbursed early. He also instructed all the deputy commissioners to put extra efforts in completing verification of the details of consumers to pave the way for implementation of National Food Security Act in the State.
These directions were given by the Chief Secretary while reviewing the progress of disbursement of flood relief and status of verification of fidelity checks process of the details of the consumers here at a meeting arranged through a video conferencing today.
Financial Commissioner, Information, Hospitality and Protocol, B B Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Secretary, Revenue, Secretary CA&PD, Relief Commissioner migrant were present in the meeting while divisional commissioner, Kashmir, DCs of Kashmir Valley and Jammu division participated through video conferencing..
The Chief Secretary received brief from all the deputy commissioners about the status of the fidelity check process started across the state for ensuring early implementation of NFSA in the State. He also received brief from divisional commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu and the deputy commissioner about the status of the flood relief disbursed among the flood affected families and traders so far.
He was informed that relief disbursement to the traders of Srinagar city is going on smoothly while over Rs 5 crore are being distributed daily among the affected traders.
The Chief Secretary asked all the concerned deputy commissioner to disburse the relief as per the list of the NDMA at first instance. He said that all the affected people will be brought under the scheme after carrying out necessary verification of their accounts.
Mr Shamra said additional Rs. 50 crore have been released recently for the purpose. He asked them to completed disbursement process within a weeks’ time so that flood relief reach to the sufferers early. He said JK Bank will be made nodal agency for the purpose and will deposit the amount into accounts of concerned persons on the basis of the authorization of Revenue Department.
The meeting was informed that Rs. 40.05 crore stands disbursed out of Rs. 47.29 crore released for Kashmir division and process is going on smoothly.
While reviewing the progress of the implementation of NFSA in the State, the Chief Secretary instructed all the deputy commissioners to speed up fidelity check process and ensure that work is completed as per the schedule.
Mr Sharma asked divisional commissioner, Jammu to take mid- term review of the fidelity check process to ensure its early completion. He asked all the DCs to monitor the process and built a reliable database of the record of the consumers in their respective districts.
Taking serious note of the shortfall in lifting of grains by certain DCs, he asked them to coordinate with CA&PD department and distribute ration of the month to the consumers early.
Regarding the ration to the migrants family in the Jammu, the chief secretary directed authorities of CA&PD and Relief Commissioner to make sure that ration is distributed among the family from tomorrow itself.
Relief to 1947, 1965 and 1971 migrants also came up for discussion and the chief secretary issued instruction to the DCs of Jammu, Samba and Kathua and asked them to make the disbursement hassle free. He was informed that Rs. 3.48 crore stands disbursed among 1393 families out of Rs. 3.73 crore so far.
Establishing of transit camps in Kashmir Valley also came up for the discussion. The chief secretary was briefed about the land identified for the purpose in Kashmir Valley. The Chief Secretary asked the DCs to identify the land at a single place in the district in view of the security and other arrangements.
