Financial Commissioner calls for revamping Revenue Department in J&K

SRINAGAR, March 03: Financial Commissioner, Revenue Pramod Kumar Jain today called for infusing new life in Revenue Department using modern technology and tailoring it to cater to redress the problems faced by people on priority basis.

Mr. Jain reviewed the functioning of Revenue Department during a meeting with ACRs of various districts. The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone also attended the meeting.

The Financial Commissioner said workshops will be undertaken for training the revenue officials in the latest technology. The meeting was informed that department is working overtime to free the Kahcharai land from encroachers. ACR Kupwara said that 9034 kanals have been freed in recent past. Mr. Jain directed the officials to start a survey to see how much of state land has been occupied by encroachers and steps can be taken to retrieve the same.

The Financial Commissioner reviewed the status of construction of modern record rooms and said that government is committed to safeguard the old and new records.

He asked the revenue officials to improvise in their working and take innovative steps like use of Information Technology in their working. The meeting was informed that issuance of certificates has been expedited in all offices. The meeting was informed that in Srinagar, out of 18919 applications received for issuance of Permanent Residence Certificates (PRC), all have been issued. Similarly other districts too have low or zero pendency for issuing various certificates.
