JAMMU, Febr 24: Scores of activists of Youth Congress today detained by the police after they took out a Shav Yatra (funeral procession) of BJP led NDA Government for its failure on all fronts., under the leadership of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) chief, Pranav Shagotra.
Hundreds of PYC activists were gathered in front of the Press Club of Jammu as part of programme announced by the party to lodge protest against NDA Government. As soon as the PYC activists marched towards Dogra Chowk, they were stopped by the cops, who were deployed in huge number to stop them from taking out procession. The slogan shouting PYC pierced through the barricade created by the police in front of the PCJ. When slogan shouting PYC activists reached at Dogra Chowk, they were again stopped by the cops and scores of PYC activists led by Pranav Shagotra was detained by the police.
Earlier addressing the PYC activists, Pranav Shagotra lambasted BJP led NDA Government for its failure on all fronts. He said that woes of the common masses are compounding with every passing day due to misdeeds of the NDA Government. He recalled that NDA government had promised to solve problems of the border residents by providing them shelter at alternative places but the same promise remained only on papers. He also expressed concern over the increase of ceasefire violation across the border during the last nearly two years and said that Modi government has failed to deal the situation in a befitting manner.
Mr Shagotra further said that every section of the society, be it farmers, students, women and youth are facing hardship of the wrong policies being propagated by the NDA government headed by BJP. He regretted that in a democratic system like ours, BJP led NDA government was trying to gag dissent voice by adopting oppressive means. He said that alienation among young generation is increasing with every passing day due to wrong policies of NDA Government.
He said that during the last two years prices of the essential commodities are touching sky and the government at the helm of the affairs is protecting interests of the some business houses. He mentioned that farmers are committing suicide in many parts of the country but NDA Government is more worried about big business houses.
Pointing towards prevailing political uncertainty in J&K, PYC president said that BJP and PDP both responsible for the present situation.
