Governor acts tough to save J&K students from further harassment and difficulties

JAMMU, Feb 24: There were number of messages forwarded by  parents of the students of Jammu & Kashmir who have been facing hardships in varied aspects while studying outside the state.

Consequent to Sh N.N. Vohra, Governor J&K, receiving messages from several parents about difficulties faced by their wards studying in various educational institutions in Delhi, arising from action taken by the local Police in the management of law and order situations, the Governor had raised this issue with the Union Home Ministry and the Central Intelligence Agency.   

Sources in Governor House told Cross Town News that, Governor has taken strong cognizance of it and wants to settle the issue so that innocent students of J&K do not face hardships.

The Governor has spoken personally to Union Home Secretary and to the Intelligence Bureau Chief who informed the Governor today that Shri Robin Hibu, Joint Commissioner Police, Delhi Police, has been assigned the responsibility of personally dealing with any complaint or problem faced by any J&K student studying in Delhi. Shri Hibu’s telephone number is 011-26110313 (land line) and 09810083486 (mobile).

The Home Ministry has informed the Governor that this officer can be approached by any J&K student who needs help. The Governor has asked the Home Ministry to circulate this information to the Heads of various educational institutions in Delhi, for wider dissemination.
