JAMMU, Feb 23: Directorate of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ) Tuesday organized one-day induction level training for newly appointed teachers on teaching ethics and new pedagogy at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium here.
Advisor to Governor, Parvez Dewan was the Chief Guest, while as Commissioner Secretary Education Shaleen Kabra was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Among others who were present on the occasion include State Project Director RMSA/SSA Saugat Biswas, Director School Education, Kashmir Dr Shah Faesal, Director School Education, Jammu Smita Sethi, Regional Director ICCR, Jammu, Balwant Thakur, CEOs, DIET Principals, members of the teaching fraternity and newly inducted teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor to Governor hailed the Education Department for taking the initiative of organizing such an orientation programme for the newly inducted teachers. He said the teachers have a very important role to play in shaping up the students. He added that the most important ethic and fundamental responsibility of a teacher is to perform his duty sincerely and pass on the knowledge to the next generations. He further said that countries with better education system also fare better in integrity assessment.
Commissioner Secretary Education, while appreciating the maiden induction programme said that teachers have to understand the responsibility they have been endowed with. He added they have to appreciate the nobility that comes with the profession and not just take it as a paid job. He said as teachers they have been given a chance to be a role model which they need to play well.
State Project Director, RMSA/SSA spoke about various interventions of RMSA/SSA in the education sector. He gave an overview of the schemes and how they help in making teaching more effective for teachers as well as students. He also asked the teachers to help students develop ability to think and express. He said the teachers should also explore newer and innovative methods of teaching to have a better understanding among the students.
Director School Education Kashmir, in his presentation spoke about various new initiatives taken in the education department including CM’s Model School Programme, teacher data base, transfer melas, CM’s Super 50 Coaching and winter tutorials, Xuanzang international internship in education, teacher trainings, ECCE, etc.
Earlier, in her welcome address Director School Education Jammu, threw light on the objective of organizing the induction programme. She said basic aim was to give an orientation to the newly appointed teachers about their new role in the department.
During the programme various other experts and academicians also spoke and gave presentations on topics like Chief Minister Model School Programme, teaching of languages and demonstration of teaching through drama and music.
Later, a play ‘Aap Humare Hain Kaun’ was also presented by students which was directed and produced by Balwant Thakur.
