Bharat Dharshan:  Vaid flags off 96 students, says tours build bridges of understanding.

 

JAMMU, Feb 12: 96 students from different districts of the State were flagged off for Bharat Dharshan Tour “Apna Watan Jano” lawns here today by Additional Director General of Police Headquarters (ADGP), Mr. S. P. Vaid. The tour is organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Programme and will conclude on February 24, 2016.

          

Mr. Vaid, addressing the students on the occasion, said that such tours build bridges of understanding among the students of different regions and connect them with the heritage and culture of the country. He said that our country has a cultural diversity and the students of far-flung areas should have knowledge of history and technological developments of the Nation.

          

Mr. Vaid disclosed that this was the 5th batch of students from five districts of Baramulla, Budgam, Kulgam, Shopian and Poonch. During their tour they would visit different historical places and educational institutions in the country, and interact with various dignitaries. In Kolkata they would visit Victoria memorial, Howra Bridge, Eden Garden Park, Nicco Park, Shaheed Minar, Digha Beach, Science City and Marble House, besides meet the State Governor. Also they would interact with Vice Chancellor Banaras Hindu University and visit Ganga Ghats, Alamgri Masjid and Trivini Sangam. The students would be taken to Lucknow Zoo, British Residency, Dr.Ambedkar Park in UP, Rajghat, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Lotus Temple, Jantar Mantar, Rajpath and Indra Gandhi House in Delhi, he said.

          

Earlier, Commandant, IRP 1st Battalion, Mr. T. R. Katoch informed that the group would be accompanied by Dy. SP, Tariq Mahmood and other staff members during the visit. He said that the touring students would be provided efficient boarding and lodging during the visit.

           

Mr. Vaid advised the students to use the experiences and knowledge they gain during their tour in the future. He said that such tours make the youth of far-flung areas to expose with the latest developments in the advanced cities and shape their career in a better manar. 

 

Among others, the function was attended by IsGP, HK Lohia, Yoginder Koul and Danish Rana, DIG Armed, Alok Kumar, Dir. Prosecution, Pawan Gupta, AIsGP, Dr. M. Haseeb Mughal, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Tahir Sajad, Kulbir Singh, Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, COs. Sham Lal, Anita Sharma and Roop Raj, SO to ADGP, Javaid Ahmed Mattoo, Sr. ADO (PHQ), BA Shah and other police officers.
