Defence ministry orders purchase of Rs 16,000-crore arms for Indian Forces keeping recent relations with Pakistan and China on account

NEW DELHI, Feb 14: The defence ministry  of India  on Tuesday  approved capital acquisition proposals worth Rs 15,935 crore which included the purchase of 7.40 lakh assault rifles, 5,719 sniper rifles and light machine guns to strengthen Armed forces, reports said.

In  meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), the decisiosn was approved.

Sourecs said that the approval  was bound to come keeping recent relations with  Pakistan and  China on account.
