Altaf Bukhari reviews Winter preparation, stock position, power supply situation in  Kashmir

 

                SRINAGAR, Jan 02: Minister for Public Works, Floriculture and Gardens& Park, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today held a Video Conference with Deputy Commissioners of the valley and took stock of the status of implementation of Chief Minister’s directions, winter preparedness, stock position, power supply and infrastructure development.

The Minister stressed on the administration to gear up for providing uninterrupted essential services to people during the anticipated snowfall in the valley.

The Minister was informed that 34 snow clearance machines are on stand-by mode in Srinagar city for clearing the snow from roads. A total of 111 snow clearance machines have been deployed for the entire valley with a provision of bringing 14 more such machines for ensuring the opening of roads within a minimum possible time. The Minister asked the officials to undertake snow clearance during night hours so that people wake up to clear roads.

While reviewing the stock position in the valley the Minister was informed that there is a food stock of 36 days and LPG stock of 15 days available in the valley. Syed Bukhari directed the CAPD officials to maintain the minimum stock to avoid any shortage. The meeting was informed that the work on the drainage project at Zewan has been started and the same would be completed within the winter season.

Regarding power situation the Minister was informed that curtailment to industry to the tune of 40 MW and drive against power theft has started to improve the situation at peak hours. The departmental squad has found 1668 violators and 8 FIRs have been lodged against them.

   Syed Bukhari also reviewed the preparations for the coming Republic Day and Dastageer Saheb Urs (RA). He ordered the DC Ganderbal to provide the required earth filling to Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) for preparing a new cell at Achan Dumping site.

While reviewing the progress on various directions passed on by Chief Minister to DCs, Syed Bukhari asked the administration to work vigorously to implement all the people friendly decisions taken in various district development board meetings and during the visits of the Chief Minister to the various districts.
