Rajendra reviews progress in crime investigation, stresses on use of modern tools to bring culprits to justice

JAMMU, Dec 31: Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar, reviewed progress of Crime Wing at a meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. He said that effective investigation on modern lines is must to conclude the cases on merits.The meeting was convened to review the functioning of Crime Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police. During the meeting progress of various crime cases came under discussion with DGP asking the investigating officers to conduct investigations efficiently so that culprits do not go scot free due to faulty investigation.

 

Mr. Rajendra said that crime detection and prevention is a major responsibility of JKP and crime wing has been playing an important role to investigate the cases of special nature, bringing the culprits to justice. He said that use of latest gadgets and technology by the investigating officers ensures speedy and transparent investigation. Besides, support of forensic tools has been proving fruitful in concluding the investigations.

 

The DGP said that crime investigating agencies have to take innovative measures to keep investigators updated with latest technologies. Special training courses for the investigators to use scientific devices would help to detect the crimes and curb the activities of criminals. He said that efficient investigation also helps prosecution to get the offenders punished.

 

Mr. Rajendra said that with changing scenario criminals are also adopting new strategies to commit crime and it is the responsibility of investigating agencies to be a step ahead of the criminals and keep themselves fully updated with latest information technology (IT) techniques and tools to track the culprits and bring them to justice.

 

Earlier, IGP Crime, Mr. Muneer Ahmed Khan, briefed the meeting about the improvements and achievements made during the year 2015. He said that various cases of special nature were investigated by Crime Branches in the state and challaned before the court of law. He said that focus has remained to further improve the working of the Wing and strive to consolidate the areas of strength. He also apprised the meeting about the improvements made on administrative front to modernize the functioning of crime wing.

 

Among others, the meeting was attended by DIG Crime, Mr. Johney William, Director Prosecution (PHQ), Mr. Pawan Gupta, SSP Crime Jammu, Mr. Mubashir Latifi, AIG Personnel, Mr. Tahir Sajad and other police officers.
