KATHUA, Dec 20 - Delhi Public School, Rajbagh today celebrated its annual day with great pomp and show.Advisor to Chief Minister Prof Amitabh Mattoo was the chief guest while Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Former MLA, Kanta Andotra besides teaching, non-teaching staff, parents and students were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Amitabh Mattoo asked teaching fraternity to provide quality education besides enthusing moral values in students so that they become good citizens of the country. “Moral ethos are eroding with the influence of western culture and need of the hour is to preserve our age old traditions for the posterity”, he maintained.
Prof Mattoo said that students are building blocks of strong foundation of the nation and so deserve to be nurtured with good care and concern. He asked the teachers to help students imbibe high values as they are architects who have the onus of shaping personality of students.
He appreciated the efforts of school administration and students for exhibiting their talent through cultural items.
Choudhary Lal Singh asked the students to remain focused in their studies besides participating in extracurricular activities for their overall development. He said that hardwork will not only help them achieve better results and bright future but will enable them contribute towards progress and prosperity of the nation.
Earlier, the students presented a scintillating cultural programme comprising of action songs, group dances, Bhangra and Kashmiri dance which received thunderous applause from the audience.
Advisor to Chief Minister Prof Amitabh Mattoo and Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh distributed mementos to the meritorious students who brought laurels to the school during JKBOSE exams and extra-curricular activities in 2013-14.
Later, the vote of thanks was presented by the chairman of the school Ram Avtar Aggarwal.
