3000 skilled/ unskilled local workers will be provided employment opportunities in  Pakkal Dul Hydro electric project : Sunil Sharma

 KISHTWAR, Dec 8: Minister of State for Public Works Department and Revenue, Mr Sunil Kumar Sharma  on his two days tour of the district visited  Sona Bhatti, Bhatta, Kungwarri and Suzan villages and held public meetings to take stock of the grievances  of the people .

Minister was accompanied by Tehsildar Nagsani, BDO Nagsani, Dysp Headquarter Kishtwar among other officers.

During the tour the Minister visited Suzan area and met the families whose houses were gutted down in the fire recently. Expressing his sympathies over the losses suffered he directed the Naib Tehsildar to assess the quantum of loss so that adequate relief could be disbursed in time to the affected. He also directed the forest authorities to provide timber to these families at concessional rates.

Later while addressing the public meetings   Mr Sharma said that every region of the district will be connected with the road network as sufficient funds under Central Reserve fund  have been allocated  and it will be ensured  that every project is completed under the timelines fixed.

He said that about 3000 skilled/ unskilled local workers will be provided employment opportunities in  Pakkal Dul Hydro electric project once the works starts there .

People of area projected various demands including augmentation of accommodation facility for the students in Government schools, release of compensation of land acquired for various roads, development of horticulture and agriculture on modern lines, repair of electric supply lines in the area, macadamization of local roads, supply of uninterrupted power and water supply to the area.

He impressed upon the concerned officers of Agriculture and Horticulture department to conduct joint awareness camp in the area so that the local farmers are acquainted with the  latest farming practices which in turn will play a major role in  increasing their economic conditions. The PHE department was asked to strengthen the existing water supply schemes and concerned were directed to submit the proposal for the new schemes.

He also assured that the pending    old age and widow pensions of the people of the area will be disbursed soon as the directions to release the  pending amount of social welfare schemes rationally have been issued to District social welfare officer Kishtwar.
