CCI Jammu members met Industries Minister Ganga;demanded abolition of toll tax at Lakhanpur

JAMMU, Sep 08: CCI Jammu members on Friday met Industries Minister CP Ganga and demanded abolition of toll tax at Lakhanpur.

The Press statement reads "The Office bearers of Chamber of Commerce & Industry met today at Chamber house under the Presidentship of Sh. Rakesh Gupta to discuss the problems being faced by business community  post implementation of GST in the State of J&K especially with the continuation of toll tax at  Lakhanpur  and after serious deliberations an urgent communication was sent to Sh. Chander Parkash Ganga, Hon’ble Minister for Industries & Commerce  J&K government  which reads as under:

It is after meeting all the concerned departments regarding abolition of toll tax at Lakhanpur which we feel is defeating the slogan ‘one Nation one Tax’. We have been made to understand that government of J&K is continuing with the imposition of toll tax at Lakhanpur on the pretext  that some products being manufactured by the industries in the state be made competitive and sold easily.

We request your goodselves to provide us with the list of such products that are sensitive for the industries at the earliest as we feel the government is trying to carry on with the toll tax policy under some excuses which are not a reality. We further feel that it is the common man who is bearing the brunt of any such taxes levied in addition to GST and the government cannot levy any other tax in addition to GST as the revenue of the state has already increased under GST regime."

Industries Minister Ganga assured that genuine demands will be well  taken care off.

The other Office bearers present in the meeting include Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Sr. Vice President, Sh. Rajeev Gupta, Jr. Vice President, Sh. Manish Gupta, Secretary General, Sh. Gaurav Gupta, Secretary and Sh. Ashu Gupta, Treasurer.
