Div Com discusses arrangements for Navratra Festival-2017 9 day festivities to witness series of promotional activities
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 07- The Government is going to hold series of promotional activities during the annual Navratra Festival-2017 being held at holy town of Katra- featuring cultural, religious, folk and competitive events.     

To discuss the arrangements for the nine day grand festival starting from Sept 21, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari chaired a high level meeting of senior functionaries here today.

          It was given out in the meeting that the nine day festivities would start with inauguration of the festival on September 21 at 11 am at the Asia Chowk Katra followed by a grand Shobha yatra.

          Various other events proposed during the festival days include presentation of Mata Rani ki Kahani, Ram Leela, Prabhat Pehris, folk festival, Bhaint Competition, wrestling competition and various other cultural programmes.

          The meeting was informed that this year the Department of Tourism has envisaged a special package of Sampoorna Manokamna Yatra facilitating visits to nine deities as per the traditional practice related to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.

          The Divisional Commissioner held detailed discussions on arrangements being put in place for conducting the grand annual festival.  He directed the concerned departments to work in a well coordinated manner to make elaborate preparations well in advance.  He stressed on proper regulation of traffic, foolproof security, arrangements for health care, water, power and cleanliness of the entire town. 

          Among others, IG Jammu, S. D. Singh Jamwal, DC Reasi, Ravinder Kumar, Director Urban Local Bodies, Sushma Chouhan, Director Tourism, Smita Sethi, Additional Commissioner Jammu, Rehana Batul, Joint Director Information, Manisha Sarin, senior officers of police and civil administration and representatives of various religious organizations attended the meeting.
