Bukhari, Mir, Lone review development of judicial infrastructure

JAMMU, Dec 01: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Bukhari today chaired a meeting to review development of judicial infrastructure at Handwara.

Minister for Revenue, Mr. Javaid Mustafa Mir and Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry & Science and Technology, Mr. Sajad Lone were also present in the meeting.

The Law Minister said the Government is keen to upgrade judicial infrastructure across the State so as to facilitate justice dispensation. He said all measures are being taken for upgradation of judicial infrastructure in Handwara, adding that Rs. 6.98 crore have been earmarked for the said project.

In the meeting detailed discussion was held for transfer of 9 kanal and 10 marla Revenue Complex land to the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for construction of Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge at Handwara. The said land is contiguous to the existing Court Complex and is being vacated by the Revenue department.

During the meeting, the Law Minister requested the Revenue Minister to issue necessary orders for transfer of the said land so that a long pending demand of the people of Handwara and its Bar Association is addressed.

The Revenue Minister agreed to the proposal and asked Secretary, Revenue to issue necessary instructions in this regard.

It was decided in the meeting that the Revenue Department would transfer land measuring 9 kanal and 10 marla along with the existing structures housing Old Revenue Complex to the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. The Department in lieu of the transfer of said land would provide compensation earmarked in DPR to the Revenue Department.

Secretary Revenue, Mr. Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Secretary, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Mir besides other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
