NHIDCL allots work on 14 km long Tunnel at Zojila

          SRINAGAR, JULY 29 – National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited has allotted works on 14 km long tunnel at Zojila to IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd thus fulfilling the long standing demand of the people of Ladakh region.

          The whole Ladakh region remains cutoff from rest of the country for more than four months during winter due to heavy snowfall and avalanches at Zojila Pass.

          Chairman J&K Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali congratulated the people of Ladakh for this important and prestigious project. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti, Union Minster for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari and Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar on behalf of the people of Ladakh in particular the people of Kargil.

          He further said that many developmental initiatives have been taken by the state and centre government for the people of the state and this project would connect the region with the rest of the country for entire year.

          Haji Anayat Ali said that with the vision of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the bold decision and promises made by Union Minster Nitin Gadkari, the project is going to be executed soon.

          He further said that with the sincere efforts of state and centre government, the demand for the tunnel stands fulfilled.

          The Chairman said that people were seen discussing the allotment of tunnel project at every place, whether in Bus, Taxi, Shop, Market, Office or at social media. They are thanking the government for making the dream come true and are hoping for all weather connectivity in near future.

           It is pertinent to mention here that the Tunnel Construction work at Zojila Pass on strategically important Srinagar-Leh Highway NH 1D was won by IL&FS Transportation with a lowest bid of Rs 4,899 crore.
