Revenue Minister reviews implementation of Rs 42 cr Doodhganga-Kralpora pipeline project in J&K

 

SRINAGAR, Nov 25: Minister for Revenue, Javaid Mustafa Mir today asked the people to become participatory stakeholders in effective implementation of the Government’s developmental programmes so that the benefits of various schemes reach the grassroots level.

          

Reviewing the progress of laying water pipeline from higher reaches of Doodhganga to Kralpora water treatment plant, the Minister said that taking suggestions from people is must for the success of any scheme.The pipeline project coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 42.54 crore is being executed J&K Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) under ADB-funded Jammu and Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Programme (JKUSDIP).

 

 

 

         

 For the smooth implementation of the scheme, the Minister asked all the concerned officers to revisit the plant site and convene a meeting with all the stakeholders including people from the area to address their concerns.Earlier, Chief Executive Officer, J&KERA, Vinod Sharma made a power point presentation to highlight the silent features of the project.

 

On its completion, the project will provide potable water from the higher reaches of  Doodhganga to the water treatment plant at Kralpora and would also save Rs 4 crore annually which are presently being spent on lifting of  raw water to the plant, Mr. Sharma informed the Minister.He said the project will also provide additional supply of raw water to the 11 water supply schemes of Nagam, Zuhama, Chadoora, Kuligam, Wathura, Bugam, Doniwari, Handil Bagh, and Chatergam.
