JAMMU, Nov 23: The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today visited Katra to personally take stock of the situation there in the aftermath of a tragic chopper crash in which six pilgrims and the pilot lost their lives today.

 

The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by MLA, Reasi Mr. Ajay Nanda, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, DIG Udhampur, DC Reasi and other officers of the civil and police administration.

 

Dr Singh also visited Katra hospital and directed for early postmortem of the deceased. He also interacted with the family members of the deceased persons and assured them that the State Government would facilitate early transportation of the bodies of the crash victims to their respective States.

 

The Deputy Chief Minister also informed the deceased families that the Shrine Board has already announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh per person besides the reimbursement of insurance component of Rs 15 lakh per deceased.

 

The people who died in the chopper crash have been identified as Arjun Singh, Mahesh and Vandana from Jammu and Sachin, Akshita and Arunjit Singh from New Delhi. The deceased pilot of the chopper has been identified as Sumita from Hyderabad.
