JAMMU, Nov 12: Member Legislative Assembly Kathua and Senior BJP Leader Dr. Bharat Bhushan has strongly condemned the manhandling of Block Development officer Nagrota , Azhar Khan, a JKAS officer by a Sub- Divisional Police officer. Dr. Bharat Bhushan in a statement issued today expressed deep anguish & concern that the man in uniform is kicking & slapping a respectable young & growing officer while performing crucial assignment as Nodal officer , Transport to smoothly conduct the By- Elections to Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
This shameful incident has severly shaken the morale of civil services officers & raised serious concern regarding the safety, dignity & institutional protection of the officers performing statutory & other crucial duties. More shocking is the insensitivity of the concerned authorities who have only attached the erring official despite having circumdential evidence against him.
The need of the hour is that Police Department must rise to the occasion, punish the erring Police official with exemplary punishment so that rule of law is upheld & the faith of our officers in law is restored. He expressed hope that DGP will take strict action against the police official.
Whereas Some Civil Society members have come in support of transferred SDPO Sunil Jasrotia.
They said there could be two sides in this incident.
They said the role of Officer must not be forgotten when terrorist was arrested with grenades in Jammu in year 2018.
