SRINAGAR, Nov 1: Cyber crime Investigation Centre for Excellence Crime Branch Kashmir and Cyber Police Station Udhampur have successfully recovered over Rs 4.16 lakh lost to cyber scams, bringing relief to several victims.
It said CICE Crime Branch Kashmir managed to retrieve Rs 24,446 and Rs 20,000 in two separate cases of online fraud and credited the amounts back to the victims’ bank accounts. Similarly, the Cyber Police Station Udhampur recovered and refunded Rs 3, 71,717.66 to victims in 18 cyber fraud complaints registered last month.
The recoveries were made through swift inquiry, technical analysis, and coordination with banks and financial intermediaries.
The affected individuals belonged to various areas of Udhampur district, including Chenani, Ramnagar, and Basantgarh.
Meanwhile, police have appealed to the public to stay vigilant, avoid sharing personal or banking information online, and immediately report any suspicious activity on the national helpline 1930 or at [www.cybercrime.gov.in](http://www.cybercrime.gov.in).
