UP Anti-Corruption  arrests  Police Sub-Inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh

LUCKNOW, Oct 31: Anti-Corruption, Lucknow arrested a Police Sub-Inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for removing an accused's name from a rape case.

The accused SI, Dhananjay Singh was caught taking bribe from the complainant in connection with Case No. 242/25, registered under Sections 70, 352, and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Mahanagar police station.

Following written complaint received on Oct 24, ACO team laid a trap after securing marked notes, the team executed the operation successfully.

The trap was laid at the Papermill outpost, where Dhananjay Singh was apprehended while accepting the bribe.

The accused had been booked under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and formal FIR had been registered.

Further investigation was underway to determine if more officers were involved in the bribery attempt.
