Road connectivity imperative for development: Pawan Gupta

 UDHAMPUR, Nov 03:The road connectivity is imperative for development of all sectors and the government is committed to provide improved basic facilities like road connectivity, electricity, schools and health care to the people of Udhampur at their doorsteps.

          The Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Kumar Gupta said this after laying the foundation stones of Kambal Danga-Barolla road and Kambal Danga-Sunari road.

The improvement-cum-upgradation of 2.75 km Kambal Danga- Sunari road is being done at an estimated cost of Rs 176.48 lakh while as 2.5 km long Kambal Danga-Barolla road is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 128.32 lakh under NABARD-RIDF-XX scheme by Public Works Department.

 The Minister said that various developmental schemes needed for the overall development of Udhampur are in pipeline and they would definitely provide a better living standard to the people of the district.

He stressed upon the engineers to ensure the quality of works and directed them to ensure the completion of construction work of roads in a stipulated time frame.

          The people of the area demanded up-gradation of Hartryan-Chak road and GMS Kambal Danga including construction of boundary wall, regular water supply, erection of electric poles, repair of bowlies, repair of Jib Thathi road, construction of canals and kuhls.

 Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister directed Executive Engineer PWD to fill the potholes in Jib Thathi road and assured that every household would be electrified under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana in a phased manner.

He directed the concerned officers to start the construction work of boundary wall of GMS Kambal Danga in short span of time and called upon people to get themselves aware about the different schemes of various departments and avail the benefits of the different income generating schemes for their socio economic upliftment.   

         Among others, Executive Engineer PWD, Rajesh Gupta, Assistant Executive Engineers PHE Irrigation & PDD, officers of various departments, sarpanches and panches were also present on the occasion.
