KUPWARA, Nov 02: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq today expressed the hope that the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi to J&K will help in defusing tensions along the borders so that people living near LoC won't face the brunt of skirmishes.

Speaking at a function organized in connection with the inauguration of Thai-Moori bridge in border village of Kalaroos in district Kupwara, Abdul Haq said the government  will ensure corruption free governance and will bring transparency in government functioning.

He said government will ensure better connectivity to the people of the state especially in the rural and remote areas.Stating that present dispensation led by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to provide better infrastructure and connectivity, Abdul Haq said remote villages like Kalaroos suffered from past many decades due to poor road connectivity. "The bridges will connect the different villages and shorten the distances which will benefit all especially students and peasants," he added.

The Minister further stated that the present government is for holistic development and empowerment of people, particularly the ones living in far-flung areas of the State. While interacting with the people in Kalaroos after inaugurating the bridge, Haq said the people of the State have given them a mandate to address their problems and fulfill their aspirations, and in this regard all possible measures shall be taken.

He said development of rural and remote areas will be ensured by implementation of different Rural Developmental schemes that will be instrumental in changing socio-economic profile of the people living in these areas, besides providing them much needed employment opportunities. The Minister asked people to come forward and to get actively involved in day to day governance by providing feedback about implementation of various schemes.
