CAPD squad conducts market check, books defaulters in Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 30: On the directions of Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulkfar Ali, a team headed by Deputy Director Supplies Atam Dev Singh along with other officers conducted 250 inspections/market checking of Halwai and Sweet Shops, Provisional Stores, Karyana Shops, Dhabas and Restaurants, Bakery Shops, Fruit and Vegetable Shops, Meat and Chicken Shops etc in Subash Nagar, New Plot, Janipur, Bakshi Nagar,  Vikram Chowk, Satwari, Bye Pass Nagrota/Nagrota Town, Canal Road, Jewel Chowk, Paloura, Muthi, Barnai, Bantalab, Roop Nagar areas.

 

The team booked 93 erring shopkeepers and a fine of Rs. 87,700 was recovered on spot for violating various provisions of Essential Commodities Act, i.e Non-display of Rates lists, over charging, use of domestic cylinders for commercial purposes, etc.Similar drive is being conducted in other districts of Jammu Division on the eve of ensuing festivals to check profiteering and hoarding.

 

The team warned all commercial establishments not to violate the provisions contained under Essential Commodities Act and adhere to the norms and rates notified from time to time for displaying of rates lists, not to indulge in over charging or misuse of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes.General public and all stake holders are also requested to cooperate with the department and can lodge their grievances on telephone No. 1967 (Toll Free) & 0191-2502609.
