Lal Singh kick starts construction work on 8 km road from Jakhole to Raichangera

KATHUA, APRIL 15- Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh said that new vital road projects will bolster rural connectivity, economy across the State.

The minister said this while kick starting the construction work on 8.06km road from Jakhole to Raichangera which will be executed under PMGSY with an estimated cost of Rs 4.20 crore. After inauguration of the road work, the Forest Minister instructed the concerned officers to complete the roads at an earliest, besides maintaining the quality of the works so that people of uncovered hamlets do not face any problem of connectivity in their areas. The road after completion will provide connectivity to small hamlets of Jakhole, Malaman, and Raichangera beside others.

The Minister said that that development is not possible without developing basic infrastructure. Whereas, improving road networks is the priority of the present dispensation as good road links in remote areas improve the socio-economic condition of people and ensure them comfortable life.

 Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that better road connectivity plays vital role in economic and social inclusion of rural part of our state. He also said that government has initiated a massive road developmental programme with the assistance of Central government across the State, with special focus on up gradation of roads in remote and hilly areas.

The Minister said that Government was abreast of the people’s problems and developmental needs. He further added that a comprehensive plan has been devised to mitigate people`s problem in a phased manner.

Stressing on the need of conserving environment, Singh said that Forests play an important role in survival of human race as water, food and air can be obtained from trees. He also emphasized on planting more trees in the coming monsoon season.

During his whirlwind tour, the minister interacted with various deputations and gave patient hearing to their demands and problems. He passed directions to the officers to redress the issues projected by people related to the shortage of basic amenities. He assured that the demand put forth by the representatives will be addressed on priority and in time bound manner. Later the minister reviewed the progress of road work from Tridwan to Choe and directed the executing agency to complete the project on time without compromising on quality
