Kohli inaugurates new school building for HS Gallan


KALAKOTE, APRIL 08: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli said that youth should be motivated to pursue higher education so that they can actively participate in nation building.

The Minister was speaking at the inaugural function for new school building at High School, Gallan, Kalakote here today.

The double-storey-school building has been constructed by the Public Works Department at a cost of Rs 49.17 lakh.

Stressing on the importance of education and extracurricular activities in cognitive development of students, the Minister said that skills acquired by participation in activities like debates, declamation and public speaking pave way for molding the youth into confident individuals who can immensely contribute to nation building.

“Education is the only means for progress without which no country can achieve the goal” said the Minister adding that no compromise should hinder the quality of education being provided to students.

Highlighting the measures being taken by government to promote all parameters associated with education, the Minister said it is firm commitment of the government to ensure that this vital sector gets a fillip in all aspects. He added that education sector is being prioritized for its promotion across the state.

 Exhorting upon school authorities to make sure that this institution serves as a vibrant center of excellence, the Minister stressed upon people of the area, especially, Gujjar community to enroll their wards in the school and get benefits of various schemes launched by the government for the community.

 On the occasion senior officers of PWD, Education Department, teaching staff, students and a large number of people were present.

 Later, the Minister held a public meeting at Taryath, Kalakot in which Minister highlighted milestones of the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti led Government. He asked people to hold public servants accountable and bring in efficacy into the Government and public sectors of the State. The Minister while addressing the people urged them to know their rights and also fulfill their duties toward the welfare of the State.

“Human resource is a major wealth to any nation and if the huma resource is highly educated, they are assets and vital for the nation’s development,” he said. Scores of people from different walks of life and communities called upon the Minister and apprised him about various issues. The Minister gave a patient hearing to their demands and assured them of earlier resolution of all their genuine expectations.

The Minister reiterated the government’s resolve of providing easy access to all the basic amenities to the people of the state in a time bound manner.
