KPs have significant role to strengthen message of secularism and brotherhood : Mir

Jammu, April 7: President JKPCC and Congress nominee for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat Shri Ghulam Ahmed Mir has said that Congress and NC came together to jointly contest the ongoing elections keeping in view the bigger significance of the present electoral exercise at this crucial juncture in the wake of  the prevailing atmosphere during the past over one year and appealed to the Kashmiri migrant community to keep in mind the importance of their role to  strengthen the  message of secularism and brotherhood and their faith in the composite culture of the state.

Addressing a largely attended meeting at Muthi Camp Jammu today organized by Congress and NC Migrant Cells, Shri Mir said that the  BJP Govt. at the Centre and the present dispensation of PDP & BJP in the State failed to fulfill even a single promise with the  migrant community and rather compounded their problems who are struggling for the basic needs of ration, employment and package formulated and sanctioned during the UPA regime and the Congress-NC coalition in the state. He said that the successive Congress governments at the Centre and the UPA leadership always took keen interest in taking care of the needs and to create necessary facilities for them  and  time to time  reviewed and worked out plans with their consultation for their  sustenance  and  rehabilitation apart from taking initiative  for creating atmosphere and transit accommodations in the valley for their return. He said that Congress always remains committed to their dignified settlement as the composite culture and secular ethos and character of Kashmir region remains incomplete without them.

He said that the communal and divisive forces pose a bigger challenge to the composite culture and the secular composition of the state and charged that those forces  who exploit the religious sentiments of the people for the sake of power and political vested interest are a threat to the unity and integrity of the state and religious brotherhood and harmony in the state. He said that present coalition government is the unique example of opportunism for power, as both the parties pitted the people of two regions against each other  and polarized the polity to  secure their respective numbers but  later betrayed the mandate to gain power. Even today both the parties have nothing common in their approach and ideology which resulted into total misgovernance and mistrust amongst the people. He said that the people have the best available opportunity in the shape of these bye-elections to repose their faith in the Congress and NC which are  unifying and secular forces in order to provide an alternative voice to the people  and to restore their  faith in the democratic means for redressal of their grievances. He said that the intelligent and educated kashmiri pandit community can better understand the significant role they can play through these elections to cement the bonds of unity and cautioned against the forces of exploitation. He also reminded them of their bonds of relationship with the Congress party and its leadership right from Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Smt. Indira Gandhi  down the line to the present leadership of the party and have a significant place in the hearts and minds and the policies and programmes of the party and asked them to further revive and strengthen this relationship.
