Curriculum Adaptation Training under SSA for Special Educators concluded

          JAMMU, MARCH 20- State level workshop on “Curriculum Adaptation” for Resource Teachers working under Inclusive Education, component of SSA being organized by Directorate of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan concluded, here today.

          Thirty Seven Resource Teachers from all the districts of the State participated in the program and were trained by nationally acclaimed experts including Dr Vanita Shah Choudhary (Sanskriti School, New Delhi), Ms Poonam Pandey (National Association for Blind, New Delhi) and Dr Mohammad Shaheen (East London National Health Service foundation Trust, UK) on various aspects of Curriculum Adaptation, Strategies to be applied while adapting the curriculum for Children With Special Need (CWSN) keeping in view their special needs.  

          Speaking on the occasion, State Project Director, Saugat Biswas said that the purpose of the training is to create an inclusive environment in the schools and in class room transactions so as to achieve the goal of Inclusive Education where each child will be equal participant in teaching learning process irrespective of their abilities and disabilities.

          Strategies for teaching Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Mental Retardation, all Physical disabilities were dealt with.

          Besides this, training modules on Braille, Sign Language and Inclusive Education were developed at State level by the Resource Teachers working under IE component of SSA. 2111 teachers were trained in Braille and sign language, 618 Principals and Headmasters were given orientation on Inclusive Education (under IEDSS), and Braille books were printed and distributed for the first time in J&K.
