Nanda distributes scooties, cheques among women

REASI MARCH 20:   Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda today said improving the socio-economic status of women in the society is priority of the current government and that many innovative schemes have been launched for the purpose throughout the state.

          Minister said this while addressing an awareness camp organized by Social Welfare Department at Reasi today.

          `He said keeping in view the prioritized needs of the women, the Government is laying more emphasis on the introducing new schemes for improving their economic conditions throughout the country.

Nana hailed the social welfare department for doing commendable job by mobilizing and encouraging the women folk of the state through various means to take advantage of the various schemes introduced for the welfare of the women. He said Economic empowerment is bound to pave the way for further emancipation of women in the state.

The Minister asked the officers to work tirelessly on ground so that the schemes are implemented in letter and spirit on ground and people get benefitted by these schemes.

He further reiterated the determination of the Government towards assisting the poor and vulnerable sections of the society and said that the Government is keen to resolve the public grievances with good intentions and wants to reach out to the people to provide good governance at their door steps.

The Minister also distributed financial assistance worth Rs. 4 lakhs lakh among 22 beneficiaries under NFBS and scooties to the differently-abled persons. Onb the occasion, The Minister was informed that 368 cases of marriage assistance have been covered under the scheme.

District Development Commissioner while speaking assured the minister that all welfare schemes will be implemented on the ground by mobilizing district administration and field functionaries to widen their outreach.

Among other, District Programme Officer ICDS Reasi, DSWO Kulraj Singh, TSWOs, supervisors and large number of people including old aged, women, handicapped were present in the camp.
