Yoga imperative for healthy living: Ganga

JAMMU, MARCH 15: Highlighting the importance of Yoga, the Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga said that Yoga is universally acknowledged as the best treatment for almost all diseases, and if practiced regularly it eradicates mental stress and keeps the body, mind and intellect fit.

The Minister was speaking during the Niyantrita Madhumeha Bharat (NMB) campaign organized by Indian Yoga Association (NMB) in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) for preventing the nation becoming the Diabetic Capital through (CCRYN) Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy at Bishnah, here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ganga mentioned the role of AYUSH in the management of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes. He highlighted the benefits of ancient systems of health referring to Ayurveda and Yoga and Naturopathy.

 During the camp, the volunteers informed the gathering about benefits of Yoga for promotion of positive health, Ayushtherapy, Diabetes control and exposure to work.

Stressing the need for adopting yoga to keep body and mind fit, the Minister said that yoga has revolutionized the whole world as it offers an opportunity to balance the mind and body, and helps harness an individual’s inner strength. The importance of this traditional form of exercise has been recognized globally and due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.

Yoga made an individual a better person “in thought, action, knowledge and devotion,” he said. 

The Minister added “Yoga has potential to herald a ‘new era of peace, brotherhood and all round progress of human race.”

On the occasion, World Yog Guru and Chairman World Yoga Institute Europe, Karan Singh also spoke about the importance of Yoga in present times and appealed to people to spare some time for practicing Yoga to live healthy life.

Among others, Block Development Officer Bishnah, other senior officers and large number of people of the area attended the camp.
