JAMMU, MARCH 03: The Minister of State for Power, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today chaired a high level review meeting of senior officers of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and IRCON to discuss the issues regarding re-alignment of Power Transmission Lines, Towers and Distribution works affected by 4-lanning by Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and extension of Railway Track.
The meeting discussed threadbare the ways and means for shifting of existing towers and erection of new towers in and around the catchment area of the National Highway which connects Kashmir Valley with rest of the Country.
Farooq Andrabi exhorted upon the concerned agencies and officers of the PDD to work in a coordinated manner so that the work on this prestigious project is carried out smoothly in a time bound manner.
The Minister expressed dismay over the slow pace of work on Udhampur-Banihal stretch of the National Highway. He enjoined upon them to speed up the pace of work for 4-Lanning besides maintenance of existing highway.
Emphasizing upon the authorities of NHAI and IRCON, the Minister asked them to ensure that the power supply may not suffer during the alignment of Transmission lines and Towers.
Farooq Andrabi said the topography of the catchment area of NHAI is quite different and instructed the authorities to keep extra material ready as stand by at least for two towers which can be used in case of any eventuality for safeguarding of the power infrastructure . He also directed concerned authorities to monitor the working of the executing agencies.
The concerned Chief Engineers presented a detailed report on the subject along with the measures taken to safeguard the infrastructure as per the norms in vogue in the CEA guidelines.
Principal Secretary PDD Dheeraj Gupta, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, Development Commissioner Power, Gul Ayaz, Projector Director NHAI, Srinagar, Ghulam Qadir, JGM IRCON Sanjeev Kumar, Senior V P Srinagar-Banihal Express Way Ltd. Ayaz Hussain, Chief Engineer of EM&RE Kashmir, Chief Engineer Procurement, Chief Engineer System and Operation, Chief Engineer, EM&RE Jammu and senior officers of the concerned department and agencies attended the meeting.
