High Court Directs Govt Officers Must Follow Dress Code In Courts

Jammu, August 7: The government has been directed by the High Court to issue instructions to all officers for dressing up appropriately while appearing in courts and attending offices. 

Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey directed the chief secretary to notify a dress code within a week by disapproving causal approach of the officers putting on improper dress in the courts or in government offices.

In case the State Government has not notified any proper dress code in respect of its Officers, while they are in Office or have to appear before a Court of law, the Law Secretary of the State shall do the needful, in this behalf, within a period of one week.

The court asked its Registry to convey the order to the chief secretary and the law secretary of the state and also furnish a copy to Advocate General D C Raina as also to Hakim Aman Ali, Government Advocate for information.
