Jammu, July 28: In an impressive program held at Christian Colony area of Ward Number 27, Bakshi Nagar, State Vice President BJP & MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) and MLA RS Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat were felicitated by Christian community of the area. Besides the community members, people in scores hailing from the area and many social and political activists were also present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma highlighted the role of Christian Samaj in promoting the society. He said he would do everything possible to help these sections of the society so that no segment is left ignored. He stated that the present government has special programmes for the downtrodden sections as well and especially for Christians and Balmiki Community who were left ignored in the previous government’s tenure. He also stated that he would not leave any stone unturned for the welfare of both the communities. Further, he also said that he will also help in availing social welfare schemes for the downtrodden sections as well so that maximum benefit could be given to them and also assured of taking up more developmental works in the area. Appreciating the efforts of the communities in the General elections, Gagan Bhagat said that their role has been immense and it cannot be forgotten. He said that their contribution has been great in promoting the BJP candidates from Jammu region and he stated that he will see to it that these sections are not ignored by the Government in any sphere. He also stated that he will also reach the higher authorities in the Government to get maximum benefits for these communities. Meanwhile, Christian Mohalla and Welfare Committee was also constituted in which Younis Mattoo was appointed as Chairman, Shahzad Mattoo was appointed as President, Chaman Lal was appointed as Sr. Vice President, Vijay Sohni as Jr. Vice President, Victor and Ram Lal as General Secretaries. Mandal President BJP Ayodhya Gupta, Suresh Gupta, Sangeeta Dogra, Dr Monica, Anju Dogra, Tripta Jamwal, Ramesh, Manpreet and others were also present on the occasion.
